A sketch comedy about NFTs has won the top prize at the Peninsula Film Festival’s Short Film Festival. Nifty Roadshow, by Cameralla, explored a reality where non-fungible tokens – or nifties – have taken over the world of antiques – much to the annoyance of presenter Rudiger Hampforth, played by Best Actor winner Troy Larkin.

The festival’s second prize went to City of Salt, by James Di Martino, who also walked away with the Best Director gong, while third prize was won by Tracee Hutchison for Healing Country. Jarid Seymour picked up the Best Cinematography award for Skin. Other winners included:

  • My Local Hero: Dreamweaver – Jacquie Beddows, by Heather Forbes McKeon and Yanni Dellaportas;
  • Best International: Dark Myriad 4, by Eta Dahlia;
  • Best Documentary: Pacing the Pool, by Radheya Jegatheva;
  • Best Animation: Drumtalk, by Magic Steven;
  • R U OK? Category: Still There?, by Lucy Schacher; and,
  • Woodleigh School Emerging Filmmaker Award: Break a Wave, by Kaitlyn Everett.

The Short Film Festival was held at the Dromana Drive-In on Saturday night. The judges included Lachy Hulme, Kate Atkinson, Madeleine West, Michala Banas, Toby Truslove and Georgina Haig.
