Mornington Peninsula Shire is inviting community input to help refine the outdoor dining program it ran in 2021-22 to support businesses as they recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic. In a media release today, the Shire said the program’s purpose was to increase activity in shopping and dining precincts, increase the economy and boost recovery on the Peninsula.

“The feedback from traders and the community was overall very positive, while some expressed concern about the impact of the program on their businesses,” it said. “This year, the Shire is refining the program to support all traders to succeed and create vibrant, inspiring activity centres for our community and visitors to enjoy.  We are talking to traders and would also like to understand community views as well.”

Community consultation closes at 5pm on Monday, August 29, and you can click here to have your say. Hard-copy forms are available at the Shire’s customer service centres, and you can also speak to a Shire representative at these locations:
August 15, 11am-1pm, Mount Martha in front of IGA
August 17, 11am-3pm, Mornington Main Street Market
August 18, 9am-1pm, Hastings Street Market
August 19, 11am-1pm, Mount Eliza Village Green
August 23, 9am-3pm, Rosebud between 9th Ave and Rosebud Pde
August 24, 9am-3pm, Mornington Main Street Market
August 25, 11am-1pm, Sorrento near the Information Centre

“Our outdoor dining program was a big hit for many residents, businesses and visitors,” said Mayor Anthony Marsh. “We’d love to work with traders and the community to further refine the program. Feedback on your experience with outdoor dining and any suggestions you have will help us improve the program to ensure it best meets the needs of all involved.”
