A group of Mornington Peninsula friends are celebrating their $1.8 million windfall after winning a share of Tattslotto’s division one on Saturday. The six mates decided to form a syndicate only five months ago, but since then have won division two six times, division three 36 times, division four 315 times, division five 300 times and division six 400 times. Their latest success brought their total winnings to $1,905,151.12.
“My mates and I buy lottery tickets whenever there’s a big draw,” the syndicate leader said. “We started doing it at the beginning of the year. We’ve even won thousands and thousands before, so we always hoped we’d win more.
“I rang all the boys straight after checking the ticket, and they couldn’t believe it. It took a bit of convincing. They thought I was pulling their leg. Once they realised it was real, we headed down to the pub to celebrate. We celebrated right into the night; it was great.
“We’re all planning to take some time off and go away for a weekend to celebrate. Maybe we’ll go for a boys’ weekend. We’re all going to use the prize to pay off our mortgages and look after our families. It’s fantastic. Maybe next time we’ll win the entire $20 million prize.”
There were 11 division one-winning entries across Australia. The winning numbers were 6, 45, 13, 11, 17 and 7; the supps were 43 and 23.
