Peppers Moonah Links Resort in Fingal will host Australia’s biggest fun run and walk for breast cancer research when the Mother’s Day Classic returns on Sunday, May 14. Women, men, children, families, friends and workmates are invited to dress in pink, show up and stand up against breast cancer.
The 15.5km walk begins at 8am at 55 Peter Thompson Drive, followed by the 15.5km run at 9am and the 7km walk at 10am.
More than 1.5 million people have taken part in the event over the past 25 years and this year supporters can walk, run or jog for the cause at up to 70 locations across Australia.
The Mother’s Day Classic has grown quite literally from a walk in the park to a popular event on the national calendar. Since it began in 1998, the Mother’s Day Classic Foundation has donated $41.45 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for lifesaving research into breast cancer, the most common cancer in women that is diagnosed in 57 Australians daily and claims nine lives every day.
The event is open to all ages. You can register at www.mothersdayclassic.com.au, where you’ll also find details of MDC Anywhere, which allows you to take part at your own time and place if you’re unable to join in on the day. By signing up, you are joining a passionate, pink, and purpose-driven community united in the fight against breast cancer.
