Three Peninsula towns are in the running to be named Victoria’s top tourism destinations. Flinders and Fingal are two of the finalists in the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards’ Tiny Tourism Town category, and Sorrento is a Small Tourism Town finalist.
“These three much-loved local towns may be small but they punch well above their weight when it comes to experiences, activities and accommodation,” Mornington Peninsula Shire said in a statement today. “They are three of the reasons why the Mornington Peninsula is a great destination to visit year-round.”
The Shire urged residents to “support where you live, work and play” and vote for the three finalists. Voting is open until May 31 here, and by voting you’ll go in the draw to win a ‘Melbourne weekend’ for two.
Hosted by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council, the awards are in their second year and aim to showcase the value of tourism to towns and communities across the state while celebrating outstanding regional destinations. Winning towns will progress to the national awards for a chance to be named Australia’s Top Tourism Town.
