COLIN G SMITH TALK ON AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE ARTIST PENLEIGH BOYD

Colin has spoken previously at the Gallery and will be our guest for this talk on Australian landscape artist, Penleigh Boyd. He has recently published a remarkable book on the life and work of this member of the Boyd dynasty who is sometimes overlooked. Many will know his painting, ‘Winter Calm, Frankston’, which is typical of the beauty of his work. Colin’s book also illustrates the work of Penleigh’s wife, Edit Susan Anderson and his parents, Emma Minnie and Arthur Merric. For over 340 years Colin Smith has researched and written about the Boyd family including Penleigh’s brother, Merric Boyd and Murrumbeena and his niece, Lucy Boyd Beck. ‘Sunlight and Storm: The Life and Art of Penleigh Boyd, is Colin ‘s third book.
